Qualificaton
- Masters degree or its equivalent in Communications, Public relations, Journalism or equivalent subject.
Experience
- A minimum of 2-7 years of experience working in a related field.
Role Context
The CSS: Asian Elephant was created through a
partnership
between the IUCN SSC Asian Elephant Specialist Group and Chair’s Office, the
Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and the Wildlife Trust of India. The aim of the CSS:
Asian Elephant is to assistall Asian elephant range countries in coordinating conservation initiativesidentified at the Range State meetings as priorities and signed into the KathmanduDeclaration for Asian Elephant Conservation. This position is essentialin communicating with stakeholders involved in action planning for Asianelephant conservation efforts through a wide range of platforms such as socialmedia, written reports, local and international media and other agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Development
- Create compelling written and visual content,
including press releases, articles, blog posts, social media updates, website
content, and multimedia materials.
Elephant partners and stakeholders on the development of key communication
assets including, for example Guidelines, workshop summaries, positionstatements and scientific publications.
a content calendar to ensure a consistent flow of information.
Relations
maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.

- Coordinate interviews, media
appearances, and briefings for key organizational spokespeople.
Media Management

Project Planning & Management
- Support the development and implementation of the

updates for IUCN SSC and partner organizations, as required.
- Participate in regular coordination meetings with
project partners and stakeholders to ensure smooth planning and execution ofactivities.
Donor’s Co-ordination
- Share communication updates, visibility materials, and
periodic newsletters with donors as needed.
- Collaborate with partner organizations to ensure
branding and acknowledgment of donor support in materials.
- Support in creating reports or visual media content for
donor presentations or engagement.
- Ensure donor communication protocols are followed across
all project-related platforms.
External Communication / Co-ordination
- Act as the communications liaison for CSS Asian
Elephant, coordinating outreach, and coverage.
- Collaborate with external designers, writers, and
technical consultants to produce high-quality communication outputs.
- Align messaging and public communication with that of
partners in the CSS global network.
- Support engagement with various stakeholders through
tailored communication approaches.
Any Other Responsibilities
- Undertake other tasks as assigned by the Program Manager
to meet evolving communication needs of the center.
Language
Requirements
Fluencyin written and spoken English is essential. Fluency in any of the Asianelephant range country languages and provencompetence at public speaking would be an advantage.
Other
requirements
Ifthe applicant is not a citizen of India, they should possess all required VISAdocuments and work permits to work in India.
