Job Description – Fabric In-Charge Position Summary The Fabric In-Charge is responsible for managing and overseeing all fabric-related activities including fabric sourcing, procurement, inspection, storage, issuance, inventory control, and coordination with production teams to ensure smooth and timely fabric supply for production. Key Responsibilities Fabric Sourcing & Procurement Coordinate with vendors/suppliers for timely fabric sourcing. Negotiate prices, lead times, and quality standards. Maintain strong vendor relationships. Fabric Inspection & Quality Control Ensure fabrics received meet required specifications and quality standards. Conduct fabric testing (shrinkage, GSM, colorfastness, etc.) and ensure approvals. Manage rejection and replacement of defective fabrics. Fabric Inventory & Storage Maintain accurate fabric inventory records. Organize proper storage systems to avoid damage, loss, or misplacement. Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) is followed. Issuance & Coordination Issue fabrics to cutting/production departments as per requirement. Coordinate with the merchandising, sampling, and production teams. Track fabric consumption and wastage for cost control. Reporting & Documentation Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly fabric stock reports. Monitor fabric utilization efficiency. Keep documentation of inward/outward fabrics and supplier invoices. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Textile, Fashion Technology, or related field. 3–5 years of experience in fabric store/fabric management in garment/textile industry. Strong knowledge of fabric types, testing standards, and quality parameters. Good negotiation and vendor management skills. Proficiency in MS Excel/ERP systems for inventory management. Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
