Executive / Sr Executive Custom Clearance (Chennai)

Location:

Nanganallur | Chennai

What is your role

The Customs Clearance Executive will be responsible for handling all documentation and operational activities related to import and export customs clearance (both air and sea) The role involves coordination with customs officials, transporters, and internal departments to ensure smooth and timely clearance of shipments in compliance with statutory regulations and client requirements

Job responsibilities

: Handle customs documentation for imports and exports (Air & Sea) including Bill of Entry, Shipping Bill, Checklist preparation, and Filing through ICEGATE Coordinate with CHA (Customs House Agents), shipping lines, freight forwarders, airlines, transporters, and clients for smooth clearance and delivery of cargo Ensure compliance with Customs Act, Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), and DGFT regulations Verify and vali documents such as Invoice, Packing List, BL/AWB, COO, LC, Insurance, and HS Codes to ensure accuracy before submission Responsible for duty calculation, valuation, classification of goods, and applying correct HSN codes Liaise with Customs officials, Appraisers, Examiners, and Port/Terminal authorities for examination and clearance procedures itor ICEGATE, EDI, and DG Systems for status up and ensure timely filing and release Coordinate for bonding/de-bonding, re-import/export, SEZ, and EPCG related clearances as applicable Maintain all clearance records, files, and statutory registers as per company and government requirements Handle amendments, refunds, and duty drawback claims wherever applicable Work closely with the operations and customer service teams to ensure on-time delivery and customer isfaction Mail coordination / responding to with clients Sending weekly DSR to customers Any issues in custom clearance, should go and meet the custom officer Should be able handle well experienced clearance team

What are we seeking for

: Thorough understanding of Customs Tariff Act, Import/Export procedures Proficiency in ICEGATE, EDI filing, and customs online systems Sound knowledge of HS Codes, valuation rules, FTA/PTA benefits, and duty structures Familiar with DGFT procedures (Advance Authorization, EPCG, MEIS/RODTEP) Understanding of bonded warehouse, SEZ and re-export operations Hands-on experience in CHA coordination and Port/Airport operations MS Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to prepare MIS reports
