Job Description

Job Title: Engineer/Sr. Engineer (Instrumentation &Control Engineering)

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Instrumentation & Control Engineer to support design, engineering, and execution of PLC-based automation and instrumentation systems for Water Treatment Plants, Sewage Treatment Plants, and Effluent Treatment Plants. The role requires strong technical expertise in instrumentation design, PLC/DCS systems, and field instrumentation with the ability to handle multiple projects in an EPC environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Study and analyze tender documents; prepare specifications and datasheets for PLCs, instruments, flow elements, cables, JB, trays, and communication systems.
  • Review and interpret P&IDs to generate Instrument Index, IO list, Instrument Schedule, Hook-up drawings, and BOQ for hook-up materials.
  • Finalize drive control philosophy, wiring schemes, and PLC interfaces.
  • Perform UPS sizing calculations for I&C systems.
  • Prepare layouts including cable trays, racks, earthing, and interconnection schedules.
  • Conduct technical evaluation of vendor offers for PLCs, instruments, control valves, SOVs, JBs, VFDs, cables, and trays.
  • Participate in FAT for PLC panels at vendor facilities and provide technical support during project review meetings.
  • Address technical queries from clients and vendors; coordinate for technical offers and clarifications.
  • Provide site support for installation and commissioning of I&C systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ISA standards and project specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, ensuring timely delivery within project schedules.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–10 years’ experience in I&C engineering for water treatment, process plants, or EPC projects.
  • Strong knowledge of ISA standards and PLC-based control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to multitask and deliver results within tight project timelines.

Desirable Skills

  • Working knowledge of SPI (Smart Plant Instrumentation).
  • Understanding of Boolean logic programming.
