Job Description

Job Summary:

The Marine Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment onboard vessels, ships, and marine facilities. The role ensures that all electrical systems comply with marine classification society standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and supervise installation of electrical and electronic systems on ships and marine platforms.
  • Carry out inspection, testing, and commissioning of shipboard electrical systems (power generation, distribution, lighting, alarms, navigation, and communication systems).
  • Troubleshoot and repair faults in electrical circuits, control panels, and automation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with marine standards and classification society requirements (e.g., ABS, IRS, DNV, BV).
  • Prepare electrical drawings, load calculations, and documentation for new builds and retrofit projects.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, hull, and outfitting departments for system integration.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and support ship repair activities.
  • Review and interpret technical specifications, vendor documents, and electrical schematics.
  • Assist in material planning, procurement, and inventory management of electrical components.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, environmental policies, and company quality systems.
  • Provide technical support during sea trials and dock trials.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Electrical or Marine Engineering.
  • 3–7 years of experience in marine electrical systems (shipbuilding, ship repair, or offshore sector).
  • Strong knowledge of marine power generation and distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, automation, control systems, and instrumentation used in marine applications.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and commissioning shipboard electrical systems.
  • Good understanding of SOLAS, IMO, and class regulations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD / EPLAN and MS Office.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Work Environment:

  • Based at shipyard / dock / onboard vessels.
  • May require travel, overtime, and offshore/onboard assignments depending on project demands.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
