Job Summary
The Drafter, also known as a drafting technician, is a professional who specializes in creating detailed technical drawings and plans used in construction and manufacturing. They translate the ideas of engineers and architects into precise visual representations, often using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Drafters must have a keen eye for detail, strong spatial understanding, and familiarity with design standards and building codes to produce accurate and functional designs.
Responsibilities
Drafting and Design
- Creating accurate technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications
- Collaborating with engineers and architects to develop detailed designs
Document Management
- Organizing and maintaining project documents, including drawings, calculations, and specifications
- Updating and revising drawings as needed

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a specialized area, such as drafting or Engineering Technology or a related field with at least 2 years experience or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD.
- Ability to produce precise and accurate drawings.
- Strong understanding of geometry and algebra to calculate dimensions and allowances.
- Good communication abilities to understand and follow instructions from architects and engineers.
