The Public Arts Trust of India (PATI) seeks a dynamic Director, who will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation's creative vision while ensuring operational and financial excellence. Reporting directly to the Founding Chairwoman, this role combines strategic foresight with hands-on execution, blending artistic innovation with pragmatic management.

Detailed Responsibilities
1. Artistic Direction & Programming
- Collaborate closely with the Founding Chairwoman to set and refine the artistic vision for all PATI exhibitions, commissions, and initiatives.
- Oversee the selection and development of exhibition content, ensuring a diverse and balanced program that reflects PATI s mission.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality and impact of artistic programming, using feedback from audiences, artists, and stakeholders.
- Ensure all programming remains within budgetary limits, making adjustments as necessary to maximize value and artistic excellence.
- Champion innovation and experimentation in artistic content, encouraging risk-taking and new approaches.
2. Partnerships & Collaboration
- Initiate and nurture relationships with artists, galleries, museums, and arts organizations in India and internationally.
- Develop collaborative projects and co-commissions that amplify PATI s reach and reputation.
- Represent PATI at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to identify potential partners and strengthen existing alliances.
- Identify and develop opportunities for touring works commissioned for Jaipur Art Week, Jodhpur Arts Week, and other PATI initiatives.
- Negotiate partnership agreements that outline shared objectives, resource commitments, and expected outcomes.
- Facilitate knowledge exchange and resource sharing with partner organizations for mutual benefit.
3. Audience Development
- Build relationships with venues and festivals nationally and internationally to expand PATI s audience.
- Oversee the logistics and planning of touring exhibitions, including transport, insurance, and installation.
- Develop marketing and outreach strategies tailored to new audiences, ensuring broad and diverse engagement.
- Evaluate the impact of touring programs through audience feedback and data analysis.
4. Financial Management
- Work with the Founding Chairwoman to plan, set, and monitor budgets for all PATI operations, projects, and exhibitions.
- Ensure all activities are delivered within approved financial parameters, identifying cost-saving opportunities where possible.
- Implement robust financial controls and reporting systems to track expenditure and forecast future needs.
- Provide regular financial reports and updates to the Board, Trustees, and relevant stakeholders.
- Support staff in budget management, offering training and oversight as needed.
5. Revenue Generation & Business Planning
- Identify new revenue streams and funding opportunities to support PATI s programs, including earned income, sponsorship, and partnerships.
- Develop and present innovative business plans for new initiatives, ensuring alignment with PATI s mission and financial sustainability.
- Work with external consultants and advisors to refine business models and implementation frameworks.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of revenue-generating activities, making adjustments for maximum impact.
- Collaborate with the Founding Chairwoman to ensure all plans are cost-conscious and feasible.
6. Fundraising
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, including grant applications, corporate sponsorships, and individual giving campaigns.
- Write compelling proposals and grant bids tailored to trusts, foundations, and potential donors.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, providing regular updates and recognition.
- Organize fundraising events and campaigns to generate additional support and raise PATI s profile.
- Track and report on fundraising progress, ensuring transparency and accountability.
7. Workforce Planning & HR
- Assess staffing needs and develop a workforce plan that aligns with PATI s strategic objectives and project requirements.
- Lead recruitment processes, from drafting job descriptions to interviewing and onboarding new staff, within budget constraints.
- Coordinate with HR or external consultants to ensure all employees, artists, consultants, and contractors have appropriate contracts or agreements in place.
- Implement staff development and training programs to enhance team skills and performance.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture.
8. Mentorship & Professional Development
- Lead the design, expansion, and implementation of PATI s mentorship programs for emerging and mid-career artists, curators, and arts professionals.
- Establish structured support networks by connecting participants with experienced mentors, both internally and externally.
- Develop frameworks for professional growth, including workshops, peer learning sessions, and access to industry resources.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning by integrating professional development opportunities into staff meetings, retreats, and regular programming.
- Assess and measure the impact of mentorship initiatives through participant feedback, progress tracking, and regular program reviews.
9. Governance & Compliance
- Work closely with the Founding Chairwoman to ensure robust governance structures are in place, including Advisory Board and Trustee oversight.
- Prepare, coordinate, and distribute materials for Board and Trustee meetings, ensuring timely and accurate information flow.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards relevant to PATI s operations.
- Maintain accurate records of governance activities, decisions, and policies.
- Support the ongoing development and review of governance frameworks.
10. Policy & Procedure Development
- Develop, implement, and regularly review organizational policies and procedures to ensure best practice and compliance.
- Monitor changes in the legal and regulatory environment and update policies as required.
- Train staff and stakeholders on new or revised policies, ensuring understanding and adherence.
- Establish systems for monitoring compliance and addressing any breaches or issues.
