Position Summary: The Director – Industry Relations will be responsible for building and nurturing strategic partnerships with industry to enhance employability, internship opportunities, sponsored research, and collaborative projects. The role requires a visionary leader who can bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that the university remains aligned with industry trends and demands. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Industry Engagement: Develop and execute a university-wide strategy for industry collaboration across all schools and disciplines. Identify and establish long-term partnerships with leading corporations, startups, industry bodies, and government agencies. Internships & Placements: Work closely with the Career Development Centre to enhance student employability through internships, live projects, and final placements. Facilitate career fairs, recruitment drives, and industry immersion programs. Curriculum & Skill Development: Collaborate with faculty to integrate industry-relevant skills and certifications into academic programs. Encourage guest lectures, industry visits, workshops, and mentoring by professionals. Sponsored Research & Consultancy: Facilitate research collaborations, consultancy projects, and industry-funded labs and innovation centers. Promote interdisciplinary R&D that aligns with industry needs. Alumni & Corporate Relations: Leverage alumni in senior industry roles for networking, mentorship, and placement support. Maintain a strong database and CRM system for corporate contacts. Policy Advocacy & Representation: Represent DSU in industry forums, chambers of commerce, and government bodies. Stay abreast of national and global trends in industry-academia collaboration. Required Qualifications & Skills: PHD or Master’s degree in Engineering, Management, or related field is essential. Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience, with significant exposure to industry partnerships; experience in academia or higher education is highly desirable. Proven track record in managing strategic partnerships, placements, or industry-funded programs. Excellent networking, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to work across interdisciplinary teams and lead cross-functional initiatives. Desirable Attributes: Passion for student development and institutional growth. Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to execution. Familiarity with emerging technologies, innovation ecosystems, and start-up collaboration.
