Purpose:
Leads the strategic design and delivery of enterprise-wide learning and skills initiatives that build workforce capability, align with business priorities, and foster a culture of continuous development. Acting as the bridge between learning strategy, systems, and execution, this role champions a skills-based approach and oversees platforms to deliver scalable, inclusive, and data-driven learning experiences with measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads the implementation of comprehensive learning and skills strategies aligned with organizational goals, ensuring scalable, inclusive, and measurable outcomes.
- Oversees the design, development, and delivery of learning initiatives that addresses specific business needs, leveraging internal and external expertise to provide high-quality learning experiences that focus on closing skills gaps and ensuring colleagues acquire the necessary skills.
- Leads the development and optimisation of learning and skills platforms, ensuring seamless integration with HR systems and accessibility for all learners.
- Champions innovative learning technologies and methodologies to maximize the effectiveness and reach of learning solutions.
- Leverages skills data (e.g., from Career Navigator) and learning analytics to identify capability gaps, inform programme design, and demonstrate return on investment. Conduct regular skills gap analyses to ensure the organisation remains competitive and agile.
- Builds strong partnerships with stakeholders and external providers to deliver cost-effective, high-quality learning solutions, while ensuring governance, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure alignment, adoption, and impact of learning initiatives.
- Defines and uphold quality standards, processes, and governance for content creation, delivery, and evaluation, leading feedback loops for ongoing enhancement.
- Oversees vendor relationships and governance to ensure the delivery of high-quality learning initiatives that meet organisational needs.
- Mentors and manages a diverse team by providing continuous feedback, ensures they have professional development opportunities and sets clear performance expectations.
Technical / Job Functional Knowledge
- Extensive experience directing learning and skills strategy and delivery in a large-scale organisation.
- Strong understanding of learning technologies
- Ability to interpret and apply skills data to drive learning outcomes
- A proven track record designing and delivering learning initiatives in a large and complex global business
- Insight and expertise on industry trends and best practices, to challenge the way we apply learning in our organisation
