Desktop Support Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Computer Hardware & Networking Technician to join our field service team. This is a dynamic, client-facing role that requires a hands-on professional to handle the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a wide range of IT equipment. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver who can work independently to ensure our clients' desktop, laptop, and networking systems are running smoothly and efficiently. Key Responsibilities On-Site Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, and printers at client locations. This includes component replacement (e.g., motherboards, RAM, hard drives) and fixing software glitches. Networking Support: Install, configure, and maintain local area networks (LANs), Wi-Fi routers, switches, and network printers. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and ensure a secure and stable network environment. System Installation & Upgrades: Set up new desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices. Perform operating system installations and upgrades (Windows, macOS) and install and configure essential software. Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine checks and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity of computer systems. Client Communication & Support: Provide excellent customer service by clearly explaining technical issues to non-technical users, offering solutions, and providing training on equipment usage. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all service calls, repairs, and installations, including technical reports and client feedback. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience: Proven experience in a similar field service role, with hands-on experience in computer hardware and networking. Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of computer hardware components (desktops, laptops) and peripherals (printers, scanners). Networking Knowledge: Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and router/switch configuration. Troubleshooting Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities to quickly diagnose and fix technical faults with minimal supervision. Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Cisco CCNA are highly desirable. Physical Fitness: Ability to lift and move computer equipment and tools. Mobility: Must possess a valid driving license. Having a two-wheeler is a significant advantage for quick and efficient travel to client sites within the city. Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, a professional demeanor, and a customer-focused attitude.
