Job Description

As a District Sales Manager (DSM), your primary responsibility will be to drive sales, distribution, and overall business performance in your assigned region. You will lead a team of Area Sales Managers (ASMs), Territory Sales Officers (TSOs), and distributors to ensure the achievement of sales targets, market share, and profitability aligned with company objectives. Your key responsibilities will include achieving regional sales, volume, and revenue targets, developing and executing sales strategies to expand market presence, and monitoring secondary and primary sales to maintain a healthy sales pipeline. In terms of team management and development, you will be expected to lead, train, and motivate ASMs, TSOs, and distributor teams. Setting performance goals, reviewing individual/team achievements, and fostering a high-performance culture within the sales force will also be essential. You will play a crucial role in market development and expansion by identifying and appointing new distributors and retail partners, driving market penetration, and ensuring product availability in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas. Additionally, tracking competitor activities and implementing corrective strategies will be part of your responsibilities. Operations and distribution management will also be under your purview, including ensuring efficient distributor operations, monitoring supply chain, stock levels, and order fulfillment, and maintaining the hygiene of the distribution network while ensuring compliance with company policies. Your role will also involve reporting and analysis, such as analyzing sales data, providing insights to management, preparing regional performance reports, forecasts, and action plans, and collaborating closely with marketing teams for regional promotions and activations. Key skills and competencies required for this role include a strong knowledge of FMCG sales, distribution, and channel management, excellent leadership and people management skills, strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple markets and stakeholders. Proficiency in MS Excel/ERP/CRM tools is also expected. Qualifications and experience needed for this position include a Graduate/B Pharm or D Pharm degree and at least 8-12 years of sales and distribution experience, ideally in a regional manager role. A proven track record in handling multiple territories and leading teams will be advantageous.
