Roles & Responsibilities
Primary Objectives - Lead the Regional Engineering function covering all Business Units in SCO & MENA region.
- Development and mapping of Engineering programs, policies, and procedures to Global policies to ensure no discrepancy and ensure its implementation to be properly documented.
- Drive Engineering excellence across businesses & projects that improve Organisation Sustainability & maintain a Continual Improvement approach.
- Ensure compliance of safety standards and safe working practices among all BU s of SCO + MENA.
Key responsibilities - Ensure BUs use the Total Cost of Ownership approach throughout the asset lifecycle; the BU EAMS (Enterprise Asset Management System) shall follow the global Engineering strategy for standardization and the EAMS configuration shall follow the global standards.
- Review & Ensure GEAR (Global Equipment Asset Register) details is kept up to date with the latest information / data incl. all new purchases / disposals.
- Ensure adherence to Engineering & Reliability Framework to meet strategic objectives at a BU level and at regional level.
- Ensure BUs have adopted LEAN methodologies to target waste reduction in all Engineering activities.
- Ensure BUs maintain Engineering Risk Register and allocate necessary investment and resources to manage the risks following the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Review corrective action program(s) to mitigate identified high risk operations by determining the needed course of action and ensure implementation of the risk reduction controls.
- Work in a proactive way to identify the best solution to resolve problems and gaps, take actions to minimise delays, motivates and drives self and team to complete actions.
- Ensure BUs and Region have annual & long-term Engineering/ ROE budgeting process (including annual, 5-year plans etc) with Electrification and Decarbonization KPIs.
- Contribute to design & development of Innovation & Automation Projects
that will enhance working efficiency, safety, compliances through effective involvement of team and drive solution with the concerned team.
- Ensure that BUs follow the equipment technical specifications as prescribed in I-Spec for Equipment procurement and advise on service level agreements with tenderers and service providers.
- Ensure Engineering data accuracy across businesses. Provide timely reports on key performance and productivity trends within the region.
- Ensure Life Cycle plans are maintained for critical assets to link the required investment to support the assets to their retained risk.
- Regularly assess and review infrastructure, equipment and resource capabilities and strategically plan remedy gaps to meet organizational goals on short- and long-term basis.
- Liaise with internal and external teams to identify and resolve all issues which could impact services and excel customer experience.
- In conjunction with the Head of Regional Engineering, develop and implement region specific Engineering Plans to meet their objectives.
Educational, Technical Qualifications, Required Skills
Key requirements - BE (Electrical / Electronics) from premier institute with minimum of 10 years experience .
- 10 Years as an Engineering Manager in a large Container terminal, seaport, or large Logistics conglomerate with extensive experience in handling heavy loads, equipment s, and complex workflows.
- Should be up to date with norms, regulations, best practices in handling heavy loads, hazardous containers/ cargoes, safe working procedures, regulatory & statutory compliances.
- Good interpersonal skills, oral/written communication skills, excellent team building capabilities, planning, negotiation, and decision-making skills including ability to prepare high level reports for Executives and external parties.
- Be able to work independently in a multi-cultural environment with strong awareness of formal and informal organizational structures.
- Knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting businesses and organisation.
- Ability to travel extensively to various Business units spread across the SCO & MENA region and drive performance.
- A strong working knowledge of employee and industrial relations frameworks and excellent skills in assessing risk at both organisational and individual levels.
- Managerial knowledge on Operation, finance, procurement & contracting.
