Job Purpose

As Deputy General Manager – Business Development (Northern India), you will spearhead growth initiatives across the region, driving strategic engagements with key government and state municipal stakeholders. This role demands not just strong sales expertise, but also a deep understanding of public procurement, compliance frameworks, and water sector technologies. You will be accountable for achieving ambitious sales targets while positioning SUEZ as a trusted partner for sustainable water and wastewater solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute regional business development strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities, with proactive focus on government tenders and Municipal projects.
  • Strengthen relationships with government authorities, municipalities, by offering value-driven, innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Proposals team to prepare competitive bids and ensure winning submissions.
  • Evaluate contractual terms, commercial risks, and payment conditions to safeguard organizational interests.
  • Monitor evolving market dynamics, competitor moves, and policy frameworks to identify growth levers.
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor the sales team to consistently deliver results and exceed targets.
  • Negotiate persuasively with clients and stakeholders, ensuring long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Represent SUEZ as a thought leader at conferences, client meetings, and industry forums.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong command of water and wastewater treatment technologies and applications.

  • Deep experience navigating government procurement systems and compliance requirements.
  • Proven commercial acumen and history of delivering sales growth.
  • Exceptional networking, relationship management, and negotiation abilities.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to evaluate complex contracts and mitigate risks.
  • Self-driven, decisive, and able to thrive in a dynamic, competitive market.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Northern India.


Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Tech in any discipline, with MBA from a reputed institute.
  • At least 15 years of progressive experience in Sales, Business Development, or Commercial

    roles

    within water, wastewater, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and managing high-value, large-scale projects.
  • Looking for experienced water sector professionals who combine commercial expertise with a demonstrated ability to win and manage large-scale municipal projects
