Job Description

Associate Academic Deans occupy a unique place in the continuum of academic administrators, as the facilitating link among Department Heads, faculty members, staff, students, and University leadership. All activities and roles of the Deans are undertaken considering furthering the best interests of the students at Illinois KL University.


Responsibilities of the Dean Academics:

  • Monitoring Curriculum Development and Revision
  • Launch of new academic programmes, up gradation of existing programme structure, course content, etc.
  • Deciding the number of sections, batches for each theory and lab. courses.
  • Setting Academic Rules and Policies
  • Developing Academic Programs
  • Monitors various teaching-learning methods following in the classes.
  • Monitors the Syllabus Coverage of Various Departments.
  • Conducting regular meetings (preferably at least once in every month) of the Class Coordinator to Monitor and Evaluate Academic Activities.
  • Preparation of Academic Calendar in consultation with Principal and Controller of Examinations.
  • Coordinates Academic Audit
  • Ensure appropriate actions, as are needed for maintenance of quality of teaching spelt out by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell.
  • Provide academic counselling or advising to students and faculty.
  • Adherence of academic rules by all teaching faculty.
  • Regular and effective conduct of classes by teaching faculty.
  • Follow up of evaluation system in its true spirit and maintain liaison with all incharge Dean (Evaluation & Academic Registration).
  • Transparency in Evaluation System.
  • Students’ Feedback - collection, analysis and proper action.
  • To participate and contribute in the Committees for which they are ex-officio, nominated or elected members.


Academics Leadership:

  • Understand, imbibe, strengthen and further the mission of the University.
  • Undertake collective visioning with teaching staff at the faculty in promoting excellence in teaching, research, and administration.
  • Facilitate the development and adoption of cutting-edge curricula and pedagogy at the Faculty and institute processes for continuous improvement. Ensure that the curricula is well understood by everyone in the Faculty including students and visiting tutors. Oversee the implementation of curricula through full-time, part-time and distance-learning programs at the faculty.
  • Advance student learning and student success based on measures of success and outcomes outlined in the curricula.


Faculty Administration:

  • Facilitate the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive for quality education.
  • Facilitate Dean Faculty to organize inter-institutional and intra-institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles.
  • Identifying the newly inducted faculty for orientation programs and plan for them in every semester.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to high expectations for faculty performance by developing orientation and induction programs.
  • Provide leadership and in coordination with the faculty colleagues, generate resources and use them effectively to advance the teaching and research mission.


Outreach:

  • Build and strengthen the relationships with the State and Central Governments, Autonomous bodies, other Indian and foreign universities.
  • Elevate the visibility and standing of the faculty and its programs at appropriate international, national and regional forums.
  • Develop and nurture a meaningful relationship with alumni of the faculty.


Skill Set required:

  • Ph.D from IITs, IIITs, Central Universities are preferable.
  • Should have rich experience in leadership roles, preferably in universities.
