We manufacture and sell intimate apparel, supplements, and personal care products through multiple channels including Shopify and Amazon. As a lean, omni-channel team, we are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Controller to help us scale with financial rigor.
About The Role
We're seeking a
part-time Controller
to lead our monthly close process, maintain GAAP-compliant financials, and ensure tight controls over inventory and COGS. This person will work remotely but
must be fluent in English
and work during
East Coast hours
. You'll own accounting operations and partner closely with the CEO.The ideal candidate is a
CPA with experience in cost accounting, inventory management, and consumer packaged goods (CPG)
. You should be a proactive, detail-obsessed operator comfortable rolling up your sleeves in QuickBooks and Cin7 while helping to build scalable processes for a growing omni-channel business.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership
- Own and manage the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
- Maintain GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Manage and reconcile all banking and credit card transactions.
- Prepare a monthly financial package for leadership and the Board.
- Oversee accrued expenses, return reserve, and payroll accounting entries.
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Manage COGS accounting, reconciling purchase orders, landed costs, and cost layers in Cin7.
- Reconcile inventory movements across Cin7, Shopify, Amazon, and 3PL systems.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and adjustments, including obsolete inventory reserves.
Revenue Accounting
- Manage the recognition of Shopify and Amazon revenue, reconciling with payment processors.
- Ensure appropriate treatment of returns, discounts, and sales tax liabilities.
Accounts Payable & Treasury
- Own the AP process, including Bill.com workflows and vendor payments.
- Manage the working capital line, including monthly reconciliations and compliance.
- Maintain cash flow visibility and coordinate payment schedules with the CEO.
Systems & Processes
- Lead process improvements across QuickBooks, Cin7, and supporting systems (Bill.com, Shopify, Amazon, Brex, True Commerce).
- Support implementation of new financial controls and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Build and maintain documentation of monthly processes.
Collaborations
- Work closely with the CEO.
- Partner with operations and supply chain teams on PO processes, landed costs, and production spend.
- Liaise with external bookkeepers and tax advisors.
Requirements
Your Background
- GAAP CPA required.
- 5+ years in accounting roles, including cost accounting and inventory management in a CPG or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience managing the full monthly close.
- Fluent in English; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Systems experience required: QuickBooks, Bill.com, Cin7 (or equivalent), Shopify, Amazon Seller Central. Familiarity with Brex, and True Commerce preferred.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized with a proactive, ownership mindset.
