Position: Entry-Level CFD Engineer Location: Pune, India Type: Full-time Experience: 3–4 years About Astrophel Aerospace: Astrophel Aerospace is pioneering India’s next-generation reusable launch vehicle technology. We are building high-performance liquid propulsion systems, precision turbopumps, and cutting-edge cryogenic hardware from the ground up. Backed by deep-tech investors and collaborating with leading space organizations, our mission is to democratize access to space with indigenous engineering and innovation. Role Overview: As an Entry-Level CFD Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in simulating and analyzing fluid flow, heat transfer, and combustion processes critical to our propulsion systems. From turbopumps and cryogenic injectors to throttle valves and regeneratively cooled engines, your work will directly impact how we design, iterate, and optimize our rocket components. You’ll work closely with propulsion leads, FEA experts, and test engineers to bring analytical insights into real-world performance. Key Responsibilities: Develop and run CFD simulations for rotating machinery (turbines, impellers), cryogenic flows, and high-pressure combustion chambers. Support analysis of two-phase flow, cavitation, and thermal gradients in pump-fed systems. Interpret simulation results to guide design iterations in collaboration with design and propulsion teams. Set up boundary conditions, meshing strategies, and turbulence models appropriate for aerospace hardware. Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal design reviews and external validation. Assist in experimental correlation and test data matching for validation of CFD models. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related engineering field. Solid foundation in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer. Hands-on experience with tools like ANSYS Fluent, CFX, or OpenFOAM. Basic knowledge of rotating machinery, cryogenics, or combustion physics is a strong plus. Understanding of mesh independence, transient vs. steady simulations, and turbulence models. Familiarity with scripting in Python or MATLAB for post-processing or automation is desirable. Nice to Have: Experience with cryogenic propellants (LOX, LCH4, LN2) and compressible flow behavior. Exposure to regenerative cooling or nozzle flow analysis. Prior work (academic or industry) on pumps, turbines, or injector flows. What We’re Looking For: A sharp, detail-oriented problem-solver who learns fast and loves working on first-principles engineering. Someone who’s excited by hard problems, doesn’t mind messy data, and wants their simulation work to fly — literally. Passion for space, experimentation, and building something that’s never been done before in India. From swirling flow fields to soaring rockets—craft the future of space, one simulation at a time.
