Role Overview
The Site Engineer will be responsible for supervising on-site construction activities, ensuring work quality, managing labour and contractors, and coordinating with the project team to complete the project as per design, schedule, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Responsibilities
Execute and supervise construction work such as beams, slabs, columns, foundations, shuttering, concreting, and finishing activities.
Ensure compliance with IS codes, BIS standards, IRC guidelines, and project specifications.
Conduct material testing and quality checks, including slump tests, cube tests, reinforcement checks, and maintain quality documentation.
Review mix designs, monitor concrete quality, and ensure proper curing practices.
Assist in estimation & costing, preparing BOQs, quantity take-offs, and material requirement planning.
Carry out surveying activities using total station, theodolite, auto-level, and verify site levels before and after execution.
Monitor installation and functioning of site equipment such as concrete mixers, batching plants, tower cranes, etc.
2. Site Execution & Coordination
Supervise daily site activities, allocate work to labor/contractors, and ensure timely completion.
Coordinate with consultants, architects, subcontractors, and the project manager.
Identify and resolve site issues such as cracks, seepage, settlement, material shortage, or deviations from drawings.
Ensure proper documentation including site reports, DPRs (Daily Progress Reports), and quality checklists.
3. Safety & Compliance
Ensure implementation of safety procedures and use of PPE by workers.
Conduct toolbox meetings and ensure site compliance with safety norms and company policies.
4. Project Management Support
Assist in planning and tracking project progress using CPM, PERT, MS Project, or Primavera.
Help in scheduling materials, labor, and equipment to avoid delays.
Support the project manager in preparing timelines and meeting deadlines.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of structural elements—RCC, steel, foundations.
Proficiency in construction materials, concrete mix, and quality control.
Working knowledge of surveying instruments and interpretation of drawings.
Familiarity with relevant codes: IS standards, BIS, IRC, MORT&H.
Basic knowledge of estimation, costing, and quantity surveying.
Practical / Site Skills
Hands-on experience in site supervision, shuttering checking, reinforcement checking, curing, etc.
Problem-solving ability for common site issues.
Understanding of construction equipment and machinery.
Soft Skills
Clear and effective communication.
Leadership qualities and ability to manage labor/contractors.
Conflict resolution and decision-making under pressure.
Time management and ability to meet project deadlines.
Teamwork and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
Experience in residential/commercial/industrial projects (as relevant).
Exposure to high-rise or infrastructure projects (optional).
Knowledge of project management tools (MS Project/Primavera).
Minimum 01 to 02 years experience require in high-rise or infrastructure projects
