Chief Operating Officer (COO) Position

Role Overview

Reporting to the global CEO, the COO will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for driving operational excellence and ensuring the scalability and efficiency of the company’s nationwide training and skilling programmes. The COO will oversee day-to-day operations, field activities, and cross-functional teams, enabling the company to deliver high-quality training and certification services at scale. This role requires a strong leader with proven experience in managing operations in education, skilling, or related service delivery sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership:

Managing and streamlining the entire spectrum of the company's daily operational functions and staff management.

• Team Management:

Leading and motivating teams across all departments to ensure effective delivery, performance monitoring, fostering collaboration and ensuring all efforts are aligned and contribute to common goals.

• Strategic Execution:

Developing and executing business strategies and translating the company’s strategy into actionable operating plans, with clear KPIs and performance benchmarks.

• Process Excellence:

Developing and implementing standardized processes, systems and tools (using also digital platforms and data analytics) to ensure consistency, efficiency and quality in service delivery and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

• Revenue Growth:

Enabling rapid growth of revenue with tailored service offerings.

• Cost Management and Profitability

Overseeing project specific and overall cost, expenditures and resource utilisation towards ensuring effective cost control and achievement of profitability.

• Performance Management:

Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and using data-driven decision-making to improve efficiency and productivity.

• People & Culture:

Mentoring and developing the leadership pipeline, foster a culture of taking ownership, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across the organization.

• Compliance:

Ensuring the company's operations adhere to all relevant regulatory, state, and federal standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing and service industry, including at least 5 years in a senior operations role with P&L responsibility.
• Experience in workforce and resource capacity development.
• Strong people management experience, particularly with dispersed/field-based teams.
• Demonstrated ability to set up and scale processes in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
• Solid financial and business acumen, with experience in budget management and operational efficiency.
• Comfort working with government schemes, CSR programs, or donor-funded initiatives is a strong advantage.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively across India and ready to operate from different parts of the country.
• Management Graduate from a Tier 1/ Tier 2 institute; BE/ B. Tech from Tier 1 / Tier 2 institute.
