Role Overview

Chief Geologist

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement the

  corporate exploration strategy

  for gold, copper, cobalt, iron ore, and other metals.
• Lead and mentor geological teams across multiple sites, ensuring consistency with corporate standards.
• Review and validate exploration programs, drilling results, geological models, and resource estimations.
• Ensure compliance with

  JORC, NI 43-101, and other international resource reporting standards

  .
• Provide expert input to the

  Board and senior management

  on resource potential, risk evaluation, and project feasibility.
• Partner with mining, processing, and finance functions to integrate geological insights into business planning.
• Oversee due diligence, project evaluations, and technical assessments for

  M&A opportunities, JVs, and greenfield exploration

  .
• Represent the company in

  technical reviews, investor meetings, and external stakeholder engagements

  .
• Drive compliance with

  HSE and ESG best practices

  in exploration and resource development.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or Earth Sciences.

• 20+ years of progressive geological experience

  , with significant leadership roles in gold and metals mining.
• Proven track record of

  resource discovery, development, and conversion into reserves

  .
• Deep expertise in geological software (Surpac, Datamine, Micromine, Leapfrog, etc.).
• Strong exposure to

  African mining operations and regulatory environments

  .
• Demonstrated success in

  corporate or regional leadership roles

  within mining companies.
