Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager for our expanding Chemical Division in India. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in B2B sales of industrial chemicals and related solutions. You will be responsible for driving sales growth, establishing long-term relationships with key clients, and expanding our footprint across various industries including water treatment, agro-processing, sugar, ethanol, and other process industries.


Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and Pursue Opportunities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to grow business in the industrial chemical sector.
  • Target key industries including water treatment, agro-processing, sugar, ethanol, and other process industries.
  • Prospect and secure new clients, focusing on long-term partnerships.
  • Sales Target Achievement:

  • Meet or exceed annual sales and revenue targets for the chemical product portfolio.
  • Drive business through both direct sales efforts and leveraging existing relationships.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build Strong Client Relationships:

  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers including plant managers, technical directors, procurement heads, and operational teams.
  • Understand customer needs and provide customized solutions, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
  • Provide Technical Expertise:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering solutions for chemical applications in industrial processes (e.g., water treatment, chemical processes, and optimization).
  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical discussions to ensure that solutions meet clients’ specifications.

Proposal & Tender Management

  • Prepare Commercial Proposals:

  • Prepare and present detailed commercial proposals, quotations, and tender responses.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to close sales effectively while ensuring profitability.
  • Contract Management:

  • Ensure timely and accurate contract execution in line with business requirements.
  • Monitor contract terms, renewals, and extensions.

Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning

  • Market Analysis:

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences to adjust sales strategies.
  • Track emerging opportunities within the chemical industry and stay ahead of market needs.
  • Sales Forecasting & Reporting:

  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts and regularly update senior management on market trends, competitor activity, and business performance.

Post-Sales Support

  • Collaborate with Operations Teams:

  • Coordinate with internal teams such as operations, logistics, and technical support to ensure seamless delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Customer Feedback & Follow-up:

  • Follow up with clients post-sales to ensure product performance and address any issues that arise, offering ongoing technical support and troubleshooting.


Required Skills & Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • MBA in Sales & Marketing or related business fields is a plus.

Experience

  • 5–10 years of proven experience in industrial chemical sales, preferably in process chemicals, water treatment chemicals, and specialty additives.
  • In-depth experience with B2B sales and the ability to manage complex, long sales cycles.
  • Exposure to industries such as water treatment, agro-processing, ethanol, sugar, and chemical manufacturing is highly desirable.

Skills

  • Strong technical background with the ability to understand chemical processes, product applications, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build strong, lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders at various levels.
  • Ability to identify market trends, customer needs, and industry challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and deadlines.
