Job Summary:

The Chemical Engineer – Waste Management is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing processes for the safe treatment, disposal, and recycling of industrial waste. The role ensures compliance with environmental regulations and promotes sustainable practices to minimize the plant’s environmental footprint.

Key Responsibilities:1. Waste Treatment & Disposal

  • Analyze chemical composition of industrial waste (liquid, solid, and gaseous).
  • Design and operate waste treatment systems such as ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant), STP (Sewage Treatment Plant), and incinerators.
  • Develop processes for segregation, neutralization, recycling, and safe disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Monitor waste treatment efficiency and optimize chemical usage.

2. Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with CPCB, SPCB, Hazardous Waste Management Rules, and Environment Protection Act.
  • Maintain records of waste generation, handling, and disposal as per statutory norms.
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory authorities.
  • Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections.

3. Process Optimization & Sustainability

  • Develop and implement cost-effective waste reduction and recycling techniques.
  • Research and adopt innovative green technologies for resource recovery.
  • Collaborate with R&D and production teams to minimize waste generation at source.
  • Promote zero-liquid discharge (ZLD) and circular economy initiatives.

4. Health, Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and transportation of chemical wastes.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
  • Train workers on chemical safety, waste segregation, and emergency response.
  • Implement and monitor pollution control systems and safety measures.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain all logs, SOPs, and waste tracking documentation.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly waste management reports.
  • Coordinate with vendors and external agencies for disposal and recycling contracts.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
  • Experience: 3–8 years in industrial waste management, effluent treatment, or environmental sustainability.
  • Knowledge:
  • Hazardous waste management and ETP/STP operations.
  • Environmental regulations and compliance documentation.
  • Chemical reaction engineering and process design for waste treatment.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Hands-on experience with waste treatment equipment and lab testing.
  • Sound knowledge of safety protocols and environmental standards.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Data-driven approach to process improvement.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
