Job Summary:

Bottom of FormThe Cash Applications Associate is responsible for applying incoming payments to customer accounts accurately and timely, identifying unapplied/unallocated payments, resolving short payments, and ensuring correct posting in accordance with Clean Harbors’ finance and audit standards.

Responsibilities

  • Process daily incoming payments (ACH, Wire, Checks, Lockbox) and apply them to customer invoices.
  • Research and resolve unapplied or unidentified cash receipts.
  • Coordinate with customers, internal AR teams, and collections teams for remittance information or short payment clarifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of payment applications in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP).
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Generate reports related to unapplied cash, unallocated payments, and other AR metrics.
  • Assist with month-end close activities related to cash applications.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX guidelines, and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in cash applications, AR, or general accounting (BPO/Shared Services experience is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Receivable and Cash Application processes.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards).
  • Good MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, basic formulas).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
