Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    Team Member - CFMC is responsible for executing day-to-day financial control activities across budgeting, fund deployment, vendor billing, and reporting. The role supports financial modeling, prepares MIS reports, tracks cash flows, and assists in data validation for cost optimization initiatives. Working under the guidance of the Lead, the team member ensures accuracy of financial data, maintains documentation for audits, and contributes to closure reporting and compliance processes. This role forms the operational backbone of the CFMC function, ensuring effective execution of capex governance protocols.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Budget and Capex Plan Validation: Assist in the preparation and validation of annual budgets and capital expenditure (Capex) plans by consolidating business inputs and verifying underlying financial assumptions under the guidance of senior team members. Develop first-level financial models to support scenario planning, cost-benefit analysis, and sensitivity reviews, helping stakeholders understand financial implications of various procurement and investment strategies. Execute Billing, Cash Flow, and Fund Tracking Tasks: Monitor project-wise fund disbursement schedules and coordinate with the Treasury team to ensure timely financial drawdowns and availability of working capital. Track end-to-end invoice processing, including advance payments, utilization, and reconciliation, ensuring accuracy in booking and adherence to payment terms. Support cash flow visibility by updating trackers and highlighting potential gaps or delays in fund flows. Financial Reports: Prepare periodic financial reports such as monthly Management Information System (MIS) reports, budget utilization summaries, and project-wise variance analyses using approved formats. Monitor day-to-day project cash flow, verify billing and payment processes for compliance, and conduct on-site audits of capital projects to ensure efficiency, cost control, and value delivery. Ensure timely, accurate, and audience-appropriate reporting that highlights financial health, forecast accuracy, budget deviations, and actionable insights. Ensure consistency, completeness, and accuracy of financial data before submission for internal reviews or leadership updates. Work closely with project teams and finance leads to gather inputs and clarify discrepancies. Cost Optimization Tracking: Support cost reduction initiatives by analyzing Interest During Construction (IDC), evaluating opportunities for optimizing payment terms, and benchmarking procurement costs across vendors and projects. Assist in reviewing Capex BOQs and budget estimates; prepare cost analysis data and inputs to support negotiations and commercial discussions aimed at cost optimization. Maintain and regularly update cost optimization trackers to reflect progress on identified initiatives. Assist in preparing cost sheets and analytical inputs to support vendor negotiations and commercial discussions. Compliance and Governance Checks: Conduct validation of financial and procurement data to ensure compliance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), controls, and documentation protocols. Maintain audit-ready documentation and assist in compiling required data during internal or external audit processes. Participate in governance reviews by preparing required financial summaries, trackers, and response notes. Communication Logs & Project Documentation: Document key discussions, decisions, and follow-up actions from project and finance meetings, ensuring clear accountability and timely closures. Maintain well-structured financial logs, including budget revisions, fund utilization records, and milestone tracking. Assist in creating presentation decks, reports, and briefing notes for senior leadership, including the Chairman and Finance Heads, ensuring clear communication of financial performance and key updates.

Qualifications and Experience


    Educational Qualifications: Chartered Accountant Degree or an MBA (with finance background) or CFA Level 2 B.E / B.Tech, preferably in Civil with at least 5 years of sectorial experience Work Experience: 7+ years of experience in finance operations, project accounting, or financial reporting Familiarity with ERP tools (SAP/Oracle), MIS preparation, and documentation practices Exposure to capex tracking or cash flow monitoring is preferred
