The Role
The Business Operations Manager, Marketing Insights and Payments is a critical role within the new Business Operations & Rhythm of Business team, reporting to the Senior Lead Business Operations Manager, RoB. This role is responsible to lead the monthly invoice payment and accruals processes for the Marketing organization, as well as APAY (non-PO) approvals and end-of-quarter invoice accruals processes. This role will also lead overall budget insight processes including budget committed forecasting, spend analysis, and ad-hoc analysis. This is a hands-on role working collaboratively with marketing professionals and marketing budget colleagues to ensure timely, accurate approvals for valid marketing expenditures, while simultaneously ensuring full compliance with company policies. This role is a critical enabler of success for our entire marketing team, ensuring accurate and effective budget utilization to maximize company and market impact. The Business Operations Manager, Marketing Insights and Payments will ensure that all marketing budget and procurement processes are executed efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with Lumen’s strategic objectives.
The Main Responsibilities
Working collaboratively with budget colleagues to build and maintain an accurate weekly and monthly spend forecast for the Marketing organization.
Identify and summarize budget insights, committed spend, left-to-go, and communicate with budget owners in Marketing.
Support Marketing invoice and accruals processes on behalf of the Marketing organization in tight alignment with overall company initiatives.
Review marketing spend across purchase orders, credit cards and direct vendor invoices (APAY) to develop key insights and recommendations as requested.
Serve as a liaison between Marketing, Finance and Procurement invoice evaluation, payment, forecasting and accrual processes.
Contributing to weekly communications and touchpoints for marketers and marketing leaders to stay informed on budget status and opportunities/risks.
Meeting with Finance teams weekly to manage the overall budget process and ensure tight alignment.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, delivering actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
Produce recurring and ad hoc reports that enable business leaders to monitor progress and make informed decisions aligned with company objectives.

What We Look For in a Candidate
Minimum: Undergraduate degree and applicable experience in finance and project management
English language proficiency (written & spoken) – Mastery level
Strong ability to build and maintain financial forecast files, draw key insights, and spot gaps/issues.
3-5 years of experience in sales, sales operations, business operations, finance, or marketing operations within a complex GTM environment.
Excellent collaboration and effective listening skills.
Strong attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
