Job Description

1. Strategic Planning & Market Development

  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities within defence, aerospace, and homeland

security sectors.

  • Develop and execute business growth strategies aligned with company capabilities and

long-term goals.

  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, emerging

technologies, and potential customers (DRDO, ISRO, HAL, BEL, BDL, etc.).

  • Monitor defence procurement policies, tenders, and offset opportunities (DPP/DAP

guidelines, Make in India initiatives).

  • Build and maintain a business pipeline and forecast revenue opportunities.

2. Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key defence customers, including

government agencies, DPSUs, and private OEMs.

  • Act as the primary liaison between the company and customers for project proposals,

negotiations, and post-award coordination.

  • Engage with program directors, procurement officers, and technical committees to

position company capabilities.

  • Organize customer visits, product demonstrations, and technical presentations.

  • Ensure timely communication of customer requirements to internal teams (engineering,

production, QA).

3. Proposal Management & Tender Participation

  • Review RFPs, RFQs, and EOIs issued by defence organizations and analyze technical and

commercial requirements.

  • Coordinate with internal departments to prepare techno-commercial proposals, cost

estimates, and compliance matrices.

  • Ensure proposals meet the standards and documentation requirements of defence entities

(e.g., DRDO procurement guidelines, ISRO quality norms).

  • Track and manage the complete bid process from registration to submission and follow-

up.

4. Contract Negotiation & Management

  • Support contract negotiations, including terms of supply, delivery schedules, NDAs, and

quality requirements.

  • Work with the legal and finance teams to ensure compliance with MoD, DPSU, and export

control regulations (DGFT, SCOMET, ITAR).

  • Manage post-award coordination, including project kick-off, milestone tracking, and

customer feedback.

5. Partnership & Collaboration

  • Identify and engage with strategic partners, system integrators, and technology

providers for joint ventures or offset collaborations.

  • Develop MoUs, NDAs, and partnership agreements to strengthen the company’s

technology base and market access.

  • Represent the company in industry events, defence expos, and supplier development

programs.

6. Internal Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with engineering, production, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure

customer requirements are clearly understood and implemented.

  • Provide sales forecasts, market intelligence, and business performance reports to

management.

  • Participate in management reviews and contribute to strategic decision-making on resource

allocation and capability enhancement.

7. Compliance & Certification

  • Ensure adherence to all defence manufacturing standards and quality systems (ISO

9001, AS9100, AQAP, etc.).

  • Maintain awareness of export control, industrial licensing, and security clearance

requirements for defence projects.

  • Work with quality and certification teams to ensure products meet customer-specific

defence standards.

8. Brand Development & Representation

  • Promote the company’s capabilities through marketing materials, technical brochures,

digital platforms, and defence exhibitions.

  • Represent the company in seminars, conferences, and industry forums to enhance

visibility and credibility.

9. Key Performance Metrics

  • Order intake and revenue growth from defence sector projects.

  • Number of new customers, partnerships, and contracts secured.

  • Proposal success rate and project conversion ratio.

  • Customer satisfaction and relationship depth.

  • Compliance with bid timelines and process accuracy.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical) or Business

Administration; MBA preferred.

  • 2–4 years of experience in business development, preferably in defence or aerospace

manufacturing.

  • Strong understanding of defence procurement procedures (DAP 2020, DRDO, DPSU

tendering systems).

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work with cross-functional technical and commercial teams.

  • Security clearance or eligibility for defence project access is a plus.Role & responsibilities
