Job Description

Role Summary

The Senior Manager - Line Haul Operations will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing the long-haul transportation network across regions to ensure cost efficiency, service reliability, and operational excellence. The role involves managing fleet operations, vendor performance, route optimization, and on-time line haul movements while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end management of line haul operations across multiple zones.
  • Plan and monitor intercity movements to ensure on-time departures and arrivals.
  • Optimize route planning, network design, and vehicle utilization.
  • Manage and evaluate third-party logistics (3PL) partners and transport vendors.
  • Track daily performance metrics (TAT, cost per km, vehicle fill rate, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate with hubs, sort centers, and first/last mile teams for smooth coordination.
  • Drive process automation and digital transformation initiatives in the line haul function.
  • Lead and develop a team of managers and executives to achieve business KPIs.
  • Analyze data and prepare periodic reports for management review.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of transportation and logistics operations.
  • Expertise in route planning, fleet management, and cost control.
  • Analytical and data-driven decision-making approach.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and vendor negotiation skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, TMS (Transportation Management Systems), and data dashboards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business Administration (MBA preferred).
  • 10-15 years of experience in logistics or transportation management.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale line haul operations in e-commerce, FMCG, or logistics sectors
