As a Founding Backend Engineer, You Will

Back-End Development: Design and implement scalable microservices with Spring Boot (REST APIs, data services, batch jobs).Carbon Data Services: Build and maintain APIs for GHG activity data, carbon accounting, and ESG metrics.Data Management: Design relational & NoSQL schemas, manage migrations, and optimize queries for large sustainability datasets.Cloud Integration: Deploy and operate services in cloud environments (GCP/AWS/Azure) with containers & orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker).Continuous Delivery: Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability.Security & Compliance: Implement OAuth2.0, JWT, Spring Security, and ensure best practices for handling sensitive regulatory data.Collaboration: Work closely with product and sustainability teams, ensuring alignment between technical implementation and ESG reporting requirements.

Core Qualifications

5+ years of experience in Java (11+/17) with strong OOP and functional design skills.Deep expertise in Spring Boot (Web, JPA, Security) for building scalable backend systems.Strong database skills: PostgreSQL, schema design, migrations, SQL optimization.Knowledge of microservice design patterns (REST, caching, fault tolerance, multi-tenancy).CI/CD, Git workflows, Gradle/Maven build tools.Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure welcome).Test-Driven Development: JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers.Solid understanding of authentication & authorization (OAuth 2.0, JWT).Nice-to-HavesFamiliarity with ESG metrics, GHG reporting, or carbon accounting systems.Cloud-native skills: Kubernetes, Docker, container orchestration.Frontend exposure (Angular/React) for end-to-end collaboration.Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced environment.Soft SkillsStrong problem-solving and debugging mindset.Clear and proactive communication.Ownership and accountability for production-grade systems.Passion for sustainability, climate action, and building meaningful technology.About Company: We, at 4N EcoTech, are building products in stealth mode.
