POSITION SPECIFICATION

Responsibilities

This position is within Oaktree’s Fund Accounting & Operations Shared Services team, which works across all of Oaktree’s fund accounting teams to centralize and streamline fund data. Shared Services works in partnership with several other sub-departments to deliver standardized fund data, so strong communication, collaboration skills and decision quality are critical to success in this position.The Assistant Vice President will review accounting-related responses to due diligence questions and client requests across fund accounting strategies prepared by a team of analysts. This role acts as a liaison between Fund Accounting and Marketing, Client Services and Diligence Services teams to serve clients and prospects. This role will also assist with initiatives to implement or improve standardized processes over financial and non-financial information across Oaktree’s CFO Organization.Responsibilities include:
  • Manage communication across multiple departments to respond to due diligence requests from prospective clients effectively and efficiently
  • Provide oversight and day-to-day guidance to other Shared Services team members based in the Hyderabad office, ensuring high-quality and consistent deliverables
  • Oversee and validate complex investor performance calculations and supporting materials prepared by analysts for Client Services and Marketing. This includes investor-level management and incentive fee calculations, capital activity, preferred return calculations, waterfall schedules, special fee distributions, and relationship summaries
  • Review, prepare, and process ad hoc client inquiries related to fund reporting and partner activity, including fund financial statement reconciliations, quarterly partner statement questions, and ILPA template requests
  • Serve as a primary point of contact within the Fund Accounting & Operations organization for client-facing requests involving accounting data and reporting
  • Support consistency and accuracy across fund accounting processes by reviewing key deliverables, identifying process improvement opportunities, and helping implement best practices across teams
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, and client service delivery

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 – 10+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in public accounting with at least 2 years of experience in the investment management industry
  • 3+ years of management experience and proven success as a leader
  • Strong communication skills – proven ability to tailor communication to various audiences
  • Strong knowledge of private investment funds, investment company accounting and partnership accounting
  • Familiarity with investment management operations and performance
  • Excellent judgment and analytical skills – proven ability to communicate proactively, analyze issues and reach well-considered conclusions under tight time constraints
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
