Role Summary:


The Assistant Manager – Production will be responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing operations. The role involves supervising daily production activities, managing manpower, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, and driving continuous improvement in processes to meet output and quality targets.


Key Responsibilities:


Production & Operations

  • Plan, organize, and monitor daily production activities to meet targets (output, quality, timelines).
  • Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
  • Maintain 5S, lean manufacturing discipline, and ensure adherence to SOPs.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance for preventive & breakdown maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Monitor critical process parameters and take corrective actions when needed.


Quality & Food Safety

  • Ensure compliance with FSSAI, HACCP, GMP, GHP, and customer-specific quality standards.
  • Monitor CCPs, OPRPs, and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Conduct routine quality checks and ensure corrective & preventive actions (CAPA) are implemented.
  • Support internal and external audits.


People Management

  • Supervise, train, and guide production operators and line workers.
  • Manage shift schedules, attendance, and discipline.
  • Conduct skill development programs to improve team capability.
  • Inventory & Resource Management
  • Monitor raw material and packaging consumption as per BOM.
  • Ensure minimal wastage, yield improvement, and cost control.
  • Coordinate with store/warehouse for timely material availability.


Continuous Improvement

  • Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to increase line efficiency.
  • Participate in Kaizen, Six Sigma, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Analyse production data (OEE, downtime, rejection rate) and implement improvement plans.


Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate production records, shift reports.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly MIS reports.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory and audit requirements.


Qualifications

  • B.Tech / B.E. in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 6–8 years of experience in production roles in the food manufacturing industry.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations (FSSAI, HACCP, ISO 22000).
  • Knowledge of production planning, machine operations, and line balancing.
  • Leadership and team-handling skills.
