Job Description – EHS Manager Position Title: EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Manager Department: EHS Reporting To: COO, CEO Location: Saykha, Bharuch Key Responsibilities: A. Environment Management Implement and maintain environmental management systems (ISO 14001 preferred). Monitor waste management (solid, liquid, hazardous), emissions, and effluents. Ensure statutory compliance related to Pollution Control Board consents Conduct periodic environmental impact assessments and sustainability initiatives. Track environmental KPIs (energy, water, waste, carbon footprint). B. Health & Safety Management Develop and enforce safe work practices, SOPs, and permit-to-work systems. Conduct hazard identification (HAZID), risk assessments (HIRA), and implement controls. Lead incident/accident investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Organize safety trainings, toolbox talks, and competency programs. Maintain safety equipment, emergency systems, and PPE compliance. C. Compliance & Documentation Ensure compliance with: Factories Act & Rules Environmental Acts (Water, Air, Hazardous Waste, E-Waste) Occupational Health & Safety requirements Maintain updated records, licenses, consents, statutory registers, and audit documents. Prepare monthly EHS reports and submit to management. D. Emergency Preparedness Develop and update the onsite emergency plan. Conduct emergency drills (fire, chemical spill, disaster preparedness). Coordinate with external agencies (fire brigade, hospitals, police, PCB). E. Audits & Continuous Improvement Lead internal EHS audits and support external audits (ISO, customer audits, FSSC 22000 if applicable). Implement corrective actions and monitor effectiveness. Drive EHS cultural improvement and employee engagement programs. F. Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with Production, Maintenance, HR, QA, and Engineering teams. Provide EHS support for new projects, plant expansions, and equipment installations. Participate in Management Review Meetings. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Environmental Science / Industrial Safety (Diploma in Industrial Safety mandatory for compliance in many states). 8-10 years of experience in EHS functions, preferably in manufacturing/FMCG/chemical/food industry. Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and statutory regulations. Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of EHS statutory requirements. Excellent risk assessment and problem-solving ability. Strong communication, documentation, and training skills. Incident investigation & root cause analysis (RCA, 5 Why, Fishbone). Ability to drive behavioral safety and cultural change. Proficiency in MS Office and EHS reporting tools.
