Description
You will be working closely with the Canada Finance team to support the Expense accounting function. Your responsibilities will include executing month-end and quarter-end close, extracting financial information from systems, driving continuous improvements through automation, and supporting audits. This role requires you to be self-motivated, a quick learner, and results-driven, with a passion for leading and driving change to enhance operational efficiency. - Prepare and submit journal entries, account reconciliations, and comprehensive documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and thorough record-keeping. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and complete accounting. - Assist in the month-end close process, focusing on account-related activities. - Identify opportunities for process improvements and standardization. - Support the development and implementation of financial controls related to accounts. - Participate in ad-hoc projects and analysis as required by management. - Ensure compliance with internal policies and foundational accounting principles. - Assist in gathering materials for internal and external audits under leadership direction. - Support Chart of Values requests and system inquiries from across all of Sun Life Canada. - Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team environment. - CPA, CA, CFA, CMA, MBA in Finance. - 4-6 years of relevant experience in Controllership area, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry. - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail. - Ability to manage conflicts and competing priorities, influence without authority, and drive change. - Proficiency in utilizing technology to streamline processes for operational excellence. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting results and recommendations. - Strong organizational and project management skills. - Proven track record of leading projects and delivering tangible results. - Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems and Hyperion is an asset. - Ability to work independently in a cross-cultural environment and manage time-sensitive deliverables.
