ACCOUNTANT FMCG

An accountant in the FMCG industry is responsible for a wide range of financial tasks, including managing accounts payable/receivable, preparing financial statements, performing reconciliations, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. Key duties also include ensuring compliance with regulations, supporting internal and external audits, and providing financial insights to help with strategic decision-making and cost control. Core responsibilities

• Financial reporting and analysis: Prepare and analyze financial statements like balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Record keeping: Maintain and update ledgers, journals, and accounts payable/receivable. Accurately record financial transactions and conduct regular reconciliations, especially during month-end and year-end close.
• Budgeting and forecasting: Collaborate with other departments to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial laws, regulations, and accounting standards, and prepare for and assist with internal and external audits.
• Cost control: Advise on strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiency, often involving detailed analysis of production costs and inventory management.

Specific FMCG duties

• Inventory management: Specifically oversee the valuation of inventory, which is a major cost center in FMCG.
• Invoice processing: Manage the processing of invoices, track payments, and ensure timely transactions to maintain cash flow.
• Payroll: Handle payroll processing, including calculations and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Strategic and supporting tasks

• Strategic input: Provide financial insights and analysis to support senior management's strategic decisions.
• Process improvement: Help implement and improve financial controls, processes, and accounting software systems.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with other departments to gather necessary financial information.
