Overview:

Accessibility Auditor/Specialist

Key Responsibilities

Accessibility Auditing & Testing:

○ Perform comprehensive accessibility audits on websites, mobile applications, and other digital platforms to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1/2.2 at all conformance levels (A, AA, and AAA).

○ Conduct manual and automated testing using industry-standard assistive technology and accessibility tools, including but not limited to NVDA, JAWS, Voice Over, and axe.

○ Identify, document, and prioritise accessibility barriers and violations with clear, actionable recommendations for remediation.

Content Accessibility Remediation:

○ Perform and oversee the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance and  remediation of various content types:

             ■ PDFs and documents (e.g., Word, PowerPoint)

             ■ Images and multimedia assets (including proper alt-text and captions)

○ Audit and remediate accessibility within Learning Management System (LMS) platforms such as Canvas, D2L (Brightspace), or similar educational technologies.

Guidance and Collaboration:

○ Collaborate with development, design, and content teams to integrate accessibility best practices throughout the product lifecycle.

○ Provide technical guidance and training on accessibility standards and testing methodologies.

○ Review wireframes, mockups, and functional specifications to ensure accessibility is baked into the design process.

Reporting & Documentation:

○ Prepare detailed accessibility conformance reports (ACRs) and Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs).

○ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving accessibility standards, regulations, and industry trends.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Deep expertise in WCAG

● Proven, hands-on experience performing both manual and automated accessibility testing.

screen reader (e.g., NVDA, JAWS)

ADA compliance requirements

remediating PDF documents

LMS platforms

● Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and ARIA and how they impact accessibility.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences. Preferred Qualifications

● Relevant accessibility certification (e.g., IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies - CPACC, or Web Accessibility Specialist - WAS).

 ● Experience with accessibility testing in mobile environments (iOS and Android).

● Knowledge of international accessibility standards beyond WCAG.

Preferred Qualifications

● Relevant accessibility certification (e.g., IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies - CPACC, or Web Accessibility Specialist - WAS).

● Experience with accessibility testing in mobile environments (iOS and Android).

● Knowledge of international accessibility standards beyond WCAG.
