Job Summary
Functions in a junior level design technologist capacity. Under close supervision, performs administration and configuration of commercial plant design tools or AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Operations) software. This level builds on experience gained as Design technologist Associate by either obtaining more depth in specific subject area with the expectation that assignments are larger and more complex, or by gaining experience in more subject areas.
Key Responsibilities
Project Support:
- Learns more advanced execution methods using commercial plant design tools or AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Operations) software to deliver the engineering deliverables to include:
- Inter discipline modelling approach and execution
- Template configuration and conformance to Project requirements
- Provide technical support to an engineering discipline and tool set
- Setup, maintain and provide guidance on global work sharing with plant design software
- Analyze more complex software issues, suggest workarounds where possible, and report bugs to software vendors when appropriate
Software Administration:
- Continues to learn configuration and customization for specific engineering disciplines including but not limited to:
- Basic Data Field additions and changes
- Deliverable modifications
- Report customization
- Equipment tag format changes
- Border changes
- Establish and maintain standard library of CAD symbols, macros and templates
- Setup and maintenance of user accounts
- Implements software upgrade to minimize impact on project execution
- Tests new commercial software releases
Processes and Standards:
- Continues review of Black and Veatch processes and standards and gains an understanding of how they relate to the design tools
System Configuration:
- Continues learning of items defined in previous level

Minimum Qualifications
Typically a minimum of 1 year related work experience.
