Position Summary: This position within The Agency at Sikich is responsible for building and maintaining client websites, specializing in WordPress-based websites. The ideal candidate will have experience working on WordPress websites and will be versatile and capable of handling a wide range of web development work – from building websites and making content and design updates to implementing plugin and making SEO improvements. The Agency at Sikich is looking for an experienced web developer specializing in WordPress to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with WordPress, showcasing a robust portfolio of projects demonstrating their proficiency in various aspects of WordPress management. This role demands a versatile professional capable of handling content updates, design adjustments, plugin implementation, and SEO improvements, all while ensuring a seamless experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms. Job Responsibilities Content management Update website content based on client requests and ensure changes match the design across devices. Collaborate with content creators to implement new articles, images, videos, and other media. Review client requests and identify missing information and assets or points of clarification to ensure deadlines are met. Style and design adjustments Optimize the design for responsiveness across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms. Create new design templates based on current pages to enhance the visual appeal and functionality. Adjust WordPress settings and CSS to deliver design consistency. Plugin implementation Identify and implement necessary plugins to enhance website functionality. Ensure plugins are regularly updated and troubleshoot any compatibility issues. Maintain a list of approved plugins and document their usage and impact on site performance. Common Plugins: Advanced Custom Fields, Elementor Pro, Gravity Forms, JetEngine, Yoast SEO. Troubleshooting Diagnose and resolve WordPress errors and issues promptly. Work closely with developers and hosting providers to address technical problems. Implement solutions that prevent recurring issues and enhance website stability. SEO improvements Execute SEO strategies to improve website visibility and ranking. Implement meta titles, meta descriptions, and meta tags for images. Though this role focuses on WordPress websites, the ideal candidate will also be versatile and able to support U.S. client websites in other Content Management platforms (e.g., Drupal, Adobe Experience Manager, headless CMS architectures), as needed. Requirements for Successful Candidate Minimum of 3 years of experience working with WordPress websites. Proven track record of managing and updating WordPress websites. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript. Strong understanding of accessibility and responsive design principles. Experience with SEO best practices and implementation. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Preferred skills Experience with WordPress multisite configuration. Knowledge of PHP and MySQL. Familiarity with web hosting environments and CDN services.
