Water Resources Specialist

Job Summary

The Deputy Team Leader & Water Resource Expert will support the Team Leader in the overall management and execution of major Flood and Drainage projects, preferably funded by ADB, World Bank, or other MFIs. The role includes sub-basin level water resource management design, guiding modelling activities, supervising survey works, resolving land-related issues, and ensuring technical quality in project implementation. The expert will also play a leadership role by providing technical assistance, stakeholder engagement, and supporting decision-making throughout the project cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Team Leader in planning, coordinating, and managing project activities.
• Design sub-basin level water resource management systems and select appropriate technical options.
• Provide guidance on hydrological/hydraulic modelling and technical methodologies.
• Supervise and monitor quality of hydrographic, topographic, and other survey works.
• Interact with stakeholders at National/State levels to resolve land and project-related issues.
• Support preparation of project documents, technical reports, and design reviews.
• Ensure compliance with donor (ADB/World Bank/other MFI) requirements and technical standards.
• Act as Deputy Team Leader by providing leadership and direction to project staff as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduate degree in Civil Engineering and Post-Graduate degree in Hydrology / Water Resources / Hydraulic Engineering.
• At least 15 years of relevant professional experience in India at National/State levels.
• Proven expertise in the design, implementation, and management of large-scale Flood and Drainage projects.
• Demonstrated experience in leadership or deputy leadership roles on similar projects, preferably funded by ADB, World Bank, or other MFIs.
• Strong knowledge of water resource management, survey supervision, stakeholder engagement, and land-related issue resolution.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and team management skills.
