Job Description – Black Utility Operator (Pharma Industry)Job Title: Black Utility Operator Department: Engineering / Utilities Reports To: Utility/Engineering Supervisor or Manager Experience: 1–3 years (Pharma Industry preferred) Location: [Company Location] Roles & ResponsibilitiesOperate and monitor black utilities including chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, DG sets, non-IBR boilers, water softeners, and pumps. Ensure continuous and efficient supply of black utilities to manufacturing and non-GMP areas. Carry out routine checks on operating parameters like pressure, temperature, electrical load, and efficiency. Support preventive and corrective maintenance of utility equipment. Maintain operation logs, checklists, and consumption records. Coordinate with engineering teams during breakdowns and shutdowns. Follow safety procedures, energy-saving measures, and statutory requirements. Assist in installation/commissioning of new utility equipment when required. Required Skills & CompetenciesITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Utility Operations. Hands-on experience with chillers, cooling towers, compressors, DG sets, pumps, and water systems. Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting. Familiarity with pharma utility SOPs, GMP guidelines, and energy conservation practices. Ability to work with shift teams and handle emergencies. Good documentation and reporting skills. Safety and compliance awareness.
