Job Description

The Transport Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and monitoring the entire school transportation system to ensure safe, punctual, and efficient movement of students and staff. The role includes route optimization, fleet maintenance, driver management, recordkeeping, compliance with RTO/safety regulations, and effective communication with parents and school administration.

Key Responsibilities1. Transport Operations Management

  • Plan and optimize bus routes to ensure timely pick-up and drop of students.
  • Prepare daily trip schedules and allocate drivers & attendants.
  • Monitor bus movement through GPS; ensure adherence to designated routes.
  • Handle transport arrangements for school events, excursions, exams, and special programs.

2. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all vehicles comply with RTO norms, CBSE/State safety requirements, and school policies.
  • Conduct regular safety drills and ensure drivers/attendants follow safety protocols.
  • Maintain updated records of licenses, insurance, FC, permits, and pollution certificates.

3. Fleet Maintenance

  • Coordinate with mechanics/service providers for regular maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain vehicle fitness logs and ensure buses are clean, functional, and safe.
  • Track fuel consumption and reduce wastage through monitoring and audits.

4. Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, cleaners, and bus attendants.
  • Conduct periodic training on safety, discipline, student handling, and emergency response.
  • Ensure attendance, discipline, and performance of transport staff.

5. Parent & Stakeholder Communication

  • Address parent concerns related to transport in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain updated parent contact lists for all routes and ensure clear communication during delays/emergencies.
  • Coordinate with academic, admin, and security teams for smooth daily operations.

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain route plans, transport registers, vehicle documents, and staff records.
  • Generate monthly reports on transport performance, fuel usage, driver attendance, and expenses.
  • Support audits related to transport safety and compliance.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Good knowledge of RTO rules, CBSE transport guidelines, and road safety norms.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Excel, GPS monitoring software).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
