Basic Information

Position Title : Thematic Researcher

Experience Level : 3 - 5 Years

Department : Investment Ops and Risk Services (IORS)

Location : Bangalore / Gurgaon

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain econometric models to forecast future trends and risks.

• Analyze macroeconomic data (both history and forecasts) to identify economic trends and themes.

• Monitor and assess global economic developments and their potential impact on markets.

• Writing and publishing research commentary to accompany data analysis and to discuss market drivers.

• Work on macro and market projects of relevance to the Indian market. Conduct secondary research as and when required.

• Handle ad hoc requests as requested.

Key Competencies

The analyst should have

• 2-4 years of post-qualification work experience as an Economic Analyst/Macro Strategist/Junior Economist dealing primarily with modeling work and research analysis.

• Must have keen interest in global financial markets and knowledge of recent developments.

• Strong quantitative and mathematical skills with experience of working with large amounts of data.

• Advanced Excel, VBA analytical skills and knowledge of econometrics. Working knowledge of Python or R is a plus.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to write research reports and comment on market developments.

• Knowledge of database tools – Macrobond, CEIC, World Bank, CME and other financial databases; various central bank (RBI) and statistical websites (e.g. MOSPI).

• Prior experience of macro research or equity research in Indian markets is a plus.

• Ability to deliver accurate work under tight deadlines, manage multiple research projects without support/supervision, and handle fast-moving economic developments.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• High level of independent thinking and approach.

Educational qualification : Master’s in Economics/MBA/CFA.
