Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled professional with deep expertise in substation monitoring equipment and substation asset lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will leverage this domain knowledge to support design and development of AI-based software tools that enhance asset performance, predictive maintenance, and operational efficiency.

How You’ll Make An Impact (responsibilities Of Role)

  • Understand the operation, working principles, and health cycle of substation assets (transformers, circuit breakers, sensors, etc.).
  • Identify common challenges in asset health monitoring and lifecycle management.
  • Analyze data from substation monitoring systems to extract actionable insights.
  • Work extensively with transformer monitoring systems, including:
    • Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) for insulation health and fault detection.
    • Partial Discharge (PD) monitoring for insulation integrity.
    • Temperature, moisture, and bushing monitoring solutions.
  • Stay updated with CIGRE working groups, technical brochures, and papers to incorporate global best practices and emerging trends in asset health management.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to support design of AI-driven solutions for predictive maintenance and anomaly detection.
  • Define requirements for algorithms that utilize sensor data, operational parameters, and historical performance trends.
  • Support validation of AI models against real-world substation scenarios to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Work closely with product teams to support integration of AI tools into existing monitoring platforms.
  • Optimize solutions for scalability, security, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Act as a bridge between domain experts and AI experts & development teams.
  • Provide technical guidance to internal teams and external customers on asset health management strategies.

What You Bring (required Qualification And Skill Sets)

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or power system engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in substation condition monitoring solution development.
  • Strong knowledge of substation assets (transformers, switchgear, sensors) and their operational lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience with substation monitoring equipment, including DGA analyzers, partial discharge monitors, and thermal monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance concepts, condition monitoring, and reliability engineering.
  • Good to have: understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, data preprocessing, and model validation (experience in Python or similar is a plus).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in power systems engineering or electrical asset management.
  • Exposure to IoT-based monitoring solutions and cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (IEC, IEEE) for substation equipment.
  • Familiarity with CIGRE technical brochures, working groups, and recommendations for asset management and monitoring.
