Job Description

About Us

Global Education Alliance (GEA) was founded in 2004 with a vision to transform the way international students connect with world-class education opportunities. Headquartered in Hong Kong, we are a dynamic international enrollment solutions provider dedicated to building long-term partnerships with institutions, recruitment agents, and students around the globe. GEA’s global teams focus on global student mobility across traditional outbound recruitment, transnational education projects, executive education & corporate training, student housing & arrival services, and launching emerging destinations to the market.

Since our inception, we have navigated the evolving international education landscape by combining market intelligence, local expertise, and digital innovation. We take pride in being a trusted partner—offering tailored support, strategic insights, and sustainable growth solutions for our clients.

Our team has over 400 people based in over 20 countries and we support over 15,000 international student enrollments each year. Our work is driven by a commitment to delivering meaningful outcomes for students, institutions, and education providers worldwide.

Role Purpose

Study Abroad Counsellor

We are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about helping students achieve their dreams of studying abroad — someone who values service excellence, enjoys meaningful interactions with students and parents, and takes pride in delivering outcomes that truly make a difference.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage your student pipeline end-to-end — from initial enquiry to final enrolment — ensuring timely updates, documentation accuracy, and proactive follow-ups.
  • Deliver exceptional service and satisfaction to students, parents, and partner institutions through consistent communication, professionalism, and empathy.
  • Participate actively in lead-generation and outreach activities, including student events, institutional visits, and referral programs.
  • Collaborate with admissions, operations, and partner relations teams to streamline processes, share insights, and ensure an integrated student journey.
  • Promote all GEA services and offerings across destinations and programs, ensuring awareness of opportunities for both students and partners.
  • Monitor and achieve assigned student enrolment targets while maintaining high service quality standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of student interactions, applications, and outcomes, and contribute to continuous process improvement within the counselling function.

Required Experience & Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree or MBA in Business, Psychology, Education, or a related discipline.
  • 1–5 years of experience in a Study Abroad Counselling or similar advisory role.
  • Multi-destination experience (both established and emerging markets) and familiarity with international admission and entry requirements is a plus.
  • Any prior premium counselling experience will be an advantage.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build trust with students and parents.
  • Excellent interpersonal, multitasking, and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on responsiveness and reliability.
  • A genuine passion for student counselling, service quality, and success delivery — driven by the satisfaction of helping students achieve their academic goals.

What We Offer

  • Industry-leading remuneration and benefits within a globally recognized international education services provider.
  • A fast-paced, collaborative work environment with opportunities for ownership and career progression.
  • The chance to make a direct and meaningful impact on students making life-changing decisions about their higher education abroad.
  • Access to world-class mentorship, training, and exposure to international education systems and mobility practices.
  • The opportunity to work with a diverse global team committed to innovation, excellence, and student success.
