GuruJal, an Abhipsa Foundation initiative, aims to achieve water neutrality by designing and implementing integrated, participatory and hyperlocal solutions for groundwater recharge and management in arid and semi-arid regions of India. We have already rejuvenated 100+ ponds, 700+ rainwater harvesting structures and have enabled 827 million litres of groundwater recharge per year. But this is just a drop in the ocean. With proven results of our 6R approach, we are now looking for the next generation of leaders to ‘grow with us’ and ‘Make India Water Secure’ within our lifetime.
As a Structural Engineer at GuruJal, you will create water-neutral communities and nature-based solutions (NbS) that restore balance between people and ecosystems.
Your role matters because:
The Structural Engineer will lead the planning, design, and technical supervision of innovative
water management structures with a strong focus on water-neutral community models.
management plans (rainwater harvesting, recharge, wastewater reuse, stormwater
management) at community and institutional scales. Prepare water balance assessments
and structural interventions to achieve water neutrality. Incorporate NbS elements likebioswales, wetlands, green corridors, and recharge zones in masterplans.
wastewater treatment systems (DEWATS, root zone treatment, polishing ponds,
bio-digesters). Develop innovative NbS structures (check dams, recharge wells, vegetated
infiltration trenches, detention ponds). Ensure eco-friendly, low-maintenance, and
scalable designs tailored to local contexts.
BOQs, and execution plans. Supervise contractors and field teams to ensure quality,
safety, and sustainability standards. Conduct site assessments and provide adaptive
technical solutions.
design. Explore low-cost, durable, and climate-resilient construction materials. Document
technical learnings, case studies, and best practices for scaling NbS models.
teams to align engineering solutions with community needs and donor/government
requirements. Provide technical inputs for proposals, policy briefs, and knowledge
publications.
