About Gurujal

GuruJal, an Abhipsa Foundation initiative, aims to achieve water neutrality by designing and implementing integrated, participatory and hyperlocal solutions for groundwater recharge and management in arid and semi-arid regions of India. We have already rejuvenated 100+ ponds, 700+ rainwater harvesting structures and have enabled 827 million litres of groundwater

recharge per year. But this is just a drop in the ocean. With proven results of our 6R approach, we are now looking for the next generation of leaders to ‘grow with us’ and ‘Make India Water

Secure’ within our lifetime.

As a Community Associate, your role will focus on building trust, facilitating dialogue, and

ensuring that community voices and knowledge are central to the design and success of our

interventions.

    By capturing stories, challenges, and feedback, you ensure local

realities guide decision-making.

    Our experience says that without community buy-in, we

cannot sustain change within the community.

    Mobilizing youth, women, and grassroots institutions

creates long-term champions for water security and climate action.


What You'll Do?

The Community Associate will be responsible for mobilizing, engaging, and empowering local

communities to actively participate in GuruJal’s water and ecosystem projects.

1. Develop and deliver IEC (Information, Education, Communication) activities on water

conservation, waste management, and climate resilience.

1. Facilitate collaboration with Panchayats, government officials, and local influencers.

2. Mobilize community institutions (VWSCs, SHGs, youth groups, school eco-clubs) to

participate in projects. Organize Jal Samvads, workshops, and training sessions.

3. Collect ground-level feedback and document community challenges and solutions.4. Support impact assessment surveys and photo/video documentation.


What You’ll Bring?

1. Graduate degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Sociology, or related fields.

2. Work experience of 1-3 years in grassroots/community engagement.

(internships/volunteering also considered).

3. Ability to build rapport and trust with rural communities. Comfort with fieldwork and

rural travel.

4. Strong communication skills in Hindi (mandatory), Basic English desirable
