Sr. Electrical Engineer

Role & Responsibilities

1. Electrical System Design

• Design end-to-end electrical systems for utility-scale ground-mounted solar projects.
• Prepare SLDs, cable schedules, earthing layouts, and BOQs for AC side.
• Ensure compliance with grid code and utility interconnection standards.

2. Transformer Sizing & Design

• Perform transformer sizing for inverter duty and auxiliary loads.
• Evaluate no-load and full-load losses, impedance, and thermal limits.
• Coordinate with transformer OEMs for custom specs and technical clarifications.

3. Load Flow & Loss Calculations

• Conduct detailed load flow studies for MV and LV systems.
• Calculate electrical losses (transformer, cable, inverter) and optimise layouts.
• Use simulation tools like ETAP, DIgSILENT, or similar for power system analysis.

4. Technical Documentation & Review

• Prepare and review technical specifications, drawings, and submittals.
• Support procurement by reviewing vendor documents and evaluating compliance.
• Assist construction and commissioning teams with technical inputs and issue resolution.

5. Standards & Compliance

• Ensure all designs adhere to IEC, IS, IEEE standards, and local DISCOM/CEA regulations.
• Incorporate HSE and O&M considerations into the design.

6. Interdepartmental Coordination

• Work closely with civil, structural, and project teams for layout and trenching alignment.
• Collaborate with site teams for installation support and as-built documentation.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech)
• Experience: 4–5 years in solar power plant electrical design, especially ground-mount
• Strong understanding of medium-voltage systems, switchgear, and protection systems
• Hands-on experience in transformer specification & loss evaluation
• Experience in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Excel
• Familiar with SCADA, string monitoring, and metering system integration
