Sr Director - Dark Store Operations

About the Role:

Delhivery is Indias leading transportation and logistics company, with our Express Parcel business serving millions of customers across 99.5% of India’s pincodes. We are setting up a business in the quick commerce category, where we will offer our clients the ability to serve their customers in minutes/hours.

Dark Store Operations Lead

You will be responsible for setting up dark stores, running the operations, optimizing last-mile delivery operations, and ensuring seamless coordination across city teams, store managers, fleet operations, and central strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Dark Store Setup & Expansion

• Design the dark store network to cover high-demand areas and ensure last mile efficiency.
• Lead the planning, setup, and go-live of dark stores across key metro and Tier-1 cities.
• Drive store layout design, assortment readiness, and operational SLAs.
• Setup and hire the right manpower structure for running dark stores efficiently

• Last-mile Operations

• Design and optimize last-mile delivery processes, including zone mapping, rider utilization, and dispatch protocols.
• Work with the city leads to track delivery KPIs (OTD, fill rate, NPS, cost per order).
• Collaborate with the tech/product team to streamline routing, slot management, and delivery tracking.

• Fleet Management

• Drive vehicle procurement strategy (2W/3W/4W), including capex/opex models.
• Lead fleet hiring and contractor/vendor onboarding in each city.
• Monitor compliance, SLAs, and cost-efficiency of delivery partners.

• Team Leadership & Coordination

• Work closely with crossfunctional teams and local city leads to ensure tight coordination between central and ground ops.
• Hire, manage and mentor a distributed team of store managers and ops associates.
• Serve as the key point of contact between central ops and city execution teams.

• Cross-functional Collaboration

• Align with category, supply chain, finance, and HR teams for execution plans.
• Drive weekly/fortnightly reviews on performance, cost metrics, and process improvements.
  

Qualifications:

• 8–12 years of experience in supply chain/logistics operations, preferably in

  quick commerce

  or hyperlocal delivery.
• Proven experience setting up and managing

  dark store

  or

  last-mile operations

  .
• Exposure to

  mid-mile logistics

  is a strong bonus.
• Familiarity with quick commerce ecosystems such as

  Swiggy Instamart, Blinkit, or Zepto

  .
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable working in high-growth, high-pressure startup environments.
• Willingness to travel extensively across cities.
  

Preferred Background:

• MBA/PGDM from a reputed institute (preferred, not mandatory).
• Prior startup experience or e-grocery/foodtech/logistics ops roles is a strong plus.
