Job Description

As the Regional Sales Manager for Direct Marketing, the incumbent will be responsible for managing and driving the life insurance business within your assigned zone. This role involves strategic oversight of direct marketing operations, ensuring business growth, enhancing customer acquisition, and expanding market share within your zone. The incumbent will lead a team of area sales Manager, sales teams, and marketing professionals to execute the direct marketing strategy for life insurance products.

Role and Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Develop and implement the direct marketing strategy for life insurance products within the assigned zone.
  • Ensure alignment with the companies overall sales and marketing objectives.
  • Design and execute campaigns aimed at acquiring new customers and retaining existing ones.
  • Optimize lead generation, conversion strategies, and marketing spend in the region.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and manage a team of Area Heads and front-line Relationship Managers, and support staff.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations to ensure high levels of motivation and productivity.
  • Establish clear goals and KPIs, ensuring team alignment with organizational targets.
  • Foster a high-performance culture with a focus on individual and team growth.

Sales & Business Development:

  • Manage end-to-end sales processes, from lead generation to closing deals, and ensure a smooth customer journey.
  • Oversee market penetration, expanding the company's presence and market share in your region.
  • Analyse competitor activity and adjust strategies accordingly to maintain a competitive edge.

Customer Acquisition & Retention:

  • Develop strategies to attract new customers and build long-term relationships.
  • Implement customer retention programs to maximize lifetime value (LTV).
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through timely service delivery, complaint resolution, and regular follow-ups.

P&L Management & Reporting:

  • Manage the zonal P&L, ensuring effective budget allocation for marketing and sales campaigns.
  • Analyse and report on performance metrics such as customer acquisition cost (CAC), conversion rates, and sales targets.
  • Regularly review financial reports to optimize costs and improve profitability.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior leadership on sales performance, market trends, and forecasts.

Candidate Qualifications

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelors degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field .

Experience

  • Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in sales, marketing, or business development in the life insurance industry.
  • At least 8-10 years in a leadership role, managing a direct marketing or sales team.
  • Proven experience in managing zonal sales targets, P&L, and driving growth through direct marketing channels.

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership, team management, and coaching abilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of direct marketing strategies, tools, and techniques.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyse and interpret key performance metrics.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in CRM software, marketing automation tools, and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
