About this opportunity:


The Working at Height SME ensures that all Ericsson field, construction, and integration activities involving work at height are performed safely, compliantly, and in accordance with Ericsson’s Target Zero principles, local legislation, and customer requirements.The SME will serve as a technical expert, trainer, and auditor for climbing, rigging, and related construction tasks, supporting both project delivery and continuous improvement of safety standards.He/she will work closely with the (NCSC) Network Construction Support Centre in assisting in any complex audit issues and advising the team of a safe ways of working in progressing site activities.


What you will do:

  • Provide expert guidance on all aspects of Working at Height (WAH), including tower climbing, rigging, MEWP use, and rooftop access and rescue procedures.
  • Advise project managers, construction leads, and HSE professionals on risk controls and compliance with Ericsson and legal WAH requirements.
  • Review and approve site-specific WAH procedures, rescue plans, and method statements in line with the Global WAH Manager.
  • Develop and deliver technical and safety training for Ericsson and subcontractor crews (e.g., WAH, Rescue procedures, PPE inspection, Safe lifting and Lowering Practices).
  • Support global rollout of Target Zero workshops, focusing on WAH standards, fall protection hierarchy, and safe behaviour.
  • Verify competence and authority to climb for field personnel through assessment and certification.
  • Conduct site audits, PPE inspections, and NCSC (Routine Safety Assessments) to verify compliance with Ericsson standards.
  • Identify non-conformities related to PPE (e.g., corrosion, missing serial numbers, expired equipment) and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and track WAH performance metrics, near misses, and incidents to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Construction Managers and Supervisors to ensure WAH controls are integrated into project planning and execution.
  • Support design reviews to ensure anchorage, access, and rescue considerations are incorporated in new builds and upgrades.
  • Provide input on lifting operations, temporary works, and structural safety related to WAH activities.
  • Contribute to the development of Ericsson global standards, procedures, and training materials for WAH and construction safety.
  • Assist in root cause analyses for WAH-related incidents and share learnings across the organization.
  • Act as Ericsson’s WAH technical representative in internal and external forums.


The skills you bring:

  • Recognized Working at Height and Rescue qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of telecom tower or construction industry experience, including supervision or SME roles.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety principles, including lifting, temporary works, and structural integrity.
  • Proven experience conducting site audits, training sessions, and risk assessments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of Ericsson Global H&S Standards and Target Zero program.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001, OSHA, or equivalent HSE management systems.
  • Experience with MEWP work restraint/fall arrest systems and rescue equipment inspection.
  • Regional or global project experience, including travel to emerging markets.
  • Technical expertise in WAH and construction safety.
  • Coaching and mentoring ability.
  • Strong decision-making and risk management skills.
  • Collaboration and cross-functional communication.
  • Analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Passion for safety excellence and Target Zero culture.
