Conduct fire training for employees and contract staff to support emergency mitigation. Ensure reliability of fire protection systems and respond promptly to emergency calls.

Responsibilities

Management
  • Deploy Fire Operators at duty posts and monitor roll calls
  • Assign job activities for each shift and ensure timely handover/takeover
  • Conduct fire training and mock drills to promote emergency preparedness
  • Assess competency of Fire Operators at regular intervals
Team Management
  • Guide Fire Operators under the supervision of Area Manager (Fire)
  • Ensure shift-wise maintenance and compliance of fire protection systems
  • Communicate effectively with Fire Operators, employees, and contractors
  • Ensure implementation of Fire SOPs across the refinery
Planning & Execution
  • Coordinate shift activities including inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire systems
  • Monitor hot work permits for safety compliance
  • Participate in ABC/ASC/Contractor management meetings
  • Procure materials through SAP and monitor shift job schedules
Systems, Policies & Procedures
  • Implement and improve fire safety systems and procedures during shifts
  • Guide team members on roles and responsibilities
  • Conduct continuous training for fire team and auxiliary squad members
  • Report deviations to Fire Manager / Lead Fire
Environment Management System
  • Implement and improve EMS procedures at the Refinery Fire Station
  • Initiate or stop effluent evacuation procedures as per safety and environmental norms
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legal requirements
  • Promote awareness of environmental consequences of SOP deviations
Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS)
  • Report near misses, incidents, and accidents during the shift
  • Generate SAP requests for maintenance activities
  • Issue or reject work permits after verifying procedural compliance
  • Ensure personal safety of fire team during ITM activities via TBT and SOP discussions
  • Participate in PSSR, TBRA, and internal audits (RIMS)
  • Take immediate emergency action to protect personnel and contain incidents
  • Maintain housekeeping standards during the shift
Energy Management System – ISO 50001:2018
  • Promote awareness of energy policy and significant energy uses
  • Support achievement of energy objectives and performance targets

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications -
  • BE-Fire from NFSC, Nagpur with 2–6 years of experience
  • OR BE-Fire from other approved institute with 2–6 years of experience
  • OR Grad-I (IFE India or UK) or BSc Fire with 4–9 years post-qualification experience in refinery or equivalent
  • Desirable: Postgraduate/Post Diploma in Industrial Safety
Experience -
2 to 9 years of relevant experience in refinery or equivalent industrial fire safety operations
