Shift Engineer - Field Control - Production (Pellet Plant)

Key Result Areas

To achieve the Shift Production targets and grinding volumes in align with ABP.

To monitor and control required quality parameters and specific cost drivers.

To monitor field operations which involves Dry grinding and wet Grinding operations, High-rate Thickeners,conveyor system.

• Inter departmental co-ordination, having basic exposure to 5S, QC Tools, Analytical skills and Basic presentation skills (PPTs, Excel &Documentation), free hand on reports preparation

Key Responsibilities:

A. PRODUCTION

• Assist Shift In-charge to meet the ABP targets, production volumes, physical and chemical quality requirements (Filtration and balling)


• Having In-depth knowledge and hands on experience in the art of GREEN BALLING.


• Total filtration unit handling, maximize equipment efficiency, productivity enhancement, quality bench marking, customer focus.


• Responsible for maintaining desired physical and chemical quality parameters of green ball.


• Breakdown analysis, shutdown planning, day to day maintenance planning follow up and compliance of all 3 filtration units, auxiliaries and conveyor system.

Process Management

Assist Shift In charge in all his activities related to the smooth operation of the Pellet Plant and Grinding Plants.

Responsible for monitoring the Dry grinding system, product pneumatic pumping, auxiliary equipment like screw pumps, compressors, silo storage bins management.

Should be able to monitor and handle wet grinding process individually with time-based decision making, having knowledge on quality and raw material analysis, Hydro cyclones and pulp pumping systems

SOP and systematic operations involving interaction with inter and intra department, co-ordination, shutdown planning and breakdown management.

Data generation of critical equipment parameters of additive grinding process and report to superiors about any abnormality found.

Individual area equipment efficiency and availability.

• Should monitor and control fugitive emissions and ensure environmental noncompliance through effective management of dedusting system

C. Safety and Environmental Management

• Adopt, establish, and promote safety culture with organizational standards and guidelines across working area.


• Following safety mandates like work permit system, TBTs, SOPs and other safe working procedures like shop floor interactions


• Should monitor and control fugitive emissions and ensure environmental noncompliance through effective management of dedusting system

D. Training & Development

• Identifying Training needs of self and preparing action plan for personal growth with help of superior


• Gain hands on knowledge on LSGR, One safety culture, work permit systems, FPS etc.

Relevant Experience:

Minimum 3 years relevant experience In Grinding operations as Shift Engineer (Pellet Plant)

Required Skills and Qualifications:

B.E. / B.Tech. In Mechanical / Metallurgical Engineering

Steel Metallurgy

Pelletization, Filtration and Green balling

Interpersonal Skills and Behavioral Based Safety

Planning & Coordination Skills
