As a Repair Workshop Technician, you are responsible for the hands-on inspection, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of mechanical or electromechanical components and systems, either returned from customers or used internally.
Your role is critical in restoring equipment to operational condition, ensuring repair quality, and contributing to service excellence.
You work from within the workshop using diagnostic tools, mechanical drawings, and repair
instructions, often under time and quality constraints.
You collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and customer service teams to document issues, provide feedback, and contribute to continuous product and process improvement.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Inspection & Diagnosis
- Perform incoming inspection and functional testing of returned or faulty equipment.
- Use diagnostic tools and technical documentation (e.g. schematics, exploded views) to identify root causes of failures.
- Visually inspect components for wear, corrosion, damage, or other indicators of failure.
- Disassembly & Repair Execution
- Safely disassemble mechanical and/or electrical systems following standard repair procedures and cleanliness protocols.
- Replace worn or damaged parts using approved spare parts or reconditioning methods.
- Perform mechanical adjustments, re-machining, lubrication, and component alignment as required.
- Testing & Validation
- Conduct functional and performance testing after repair, using test benches or specific equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety, functionality, and performance standards before approving repaired units.
- Document test results and repair outcomes according to internal quality procedures.
Technical Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of repairs, parts used, time spent, and any deviations from standard.
- Contribute to repair reports, non-conformance feedback, and root cause documentation for recurring issues.
- Provide feedback to engineering or quality teams on potential product design or process improvements.
- Tooling & Inventory Management
- Ensure tools and workshop equipment are maintained, calibrated, and used properly.
- Monitor the availability and condition of spare parts and consumables.
- Report inventory discrepancies and contribute to spare parts forecasting.
- Workshop Organization & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment according to 5S principles.
- Adhere strictly to safety guidelines, including the handling of hazardous materials or pressurized systems.
- Participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives.
- Collaboration & Customer Focus
- Collaborate with service, logistics, and support teams to meet customer lead time and quality expectations.
- Support customer-specific repairs with detailed attention to special configurations or service agreements.
- Communicate clearly regarding repair timelines, constraints, or additional repair needs.
Competencies
- Diploma / Degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Mechatronics suitable engineering
- Proficient in mechanical assembly, disassembly, and repair techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, service manuals, and test plans.
- Skilled in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, measuring instruments, and test benches.
- Methodological Competencies
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Accurate documentation and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Time management and prioritization of tasks in a high-mix, low-volume repair environment.
